Make the dough

Stir in the tomato paste, olives and raisins, cook for 2 more minutes, then let the filling cool completely before using.

The Story Behind the Dish
Pastelitos are the Dominican relatives of Spanish empanadas. Filled with beef, chicken or cheese, they're sold at bakeries, street carts and school cafeterías, and they're a fixture at every birthday party.
The classic party plate in the Dominican Republic includes pastelitos, quipes and small sandwiches, known together as 'picaderas'.
⭐ Why It's Famous
Flaky, crunchy and savoury, they're the snack Dominicans grow up with.
💡 Fun Fact
Cheese pastelitos are often sprinkled with a little sugar, a sweet-and-salty combination Dominicans love.
