The Story Behind the Dish
Coquito, 'little coconut', is Puerto Rico's answer to eggnog and the official drink of its long Christmas season, which runs from Thanksgiving to the Fiestas de la Calle San Sebastián in January.
Families make it in big batches, bottle it and give it as gifts, and everyone swears their grandmother's recipe is the best.
⭐ Why It's Famous
Sweet, creamy and spiced with cinnamon, it's Christmas in a glass for every Puerto Rican.
💡 Fun Fact
Coquito festivals and contests are held every holiday season in Puerto Rico and in Puerto Rican communities in New York.
