The Story Behind the Dish

📍 Peruvian coast📅 20th century🥘 PE

Arroz con mariscos is a favourite in Peru's cevicherías. It's often compared to Spanish paella, but it's cooked in a pot, stays moist rather than crisp, and gets its colour and flavour from Peruvian chillies rather than saffron.

The Parmesan, a touch from Peru's Italian immigrants, makes it rich and creamy.

⭐ Why It's Famous

Juicy, spicy and loaded with seafood, it's one of the most-ordered dishes on the Peruvian coast.

💡 Fun Fact

In Peru it's common to order arroz con mariscos together with ceviche, a combination called 'combinado'.
